Job description
The anticipated wage range is $85K - $100K annually

The Assistant Executive Director, in the absence of the Executive Director, is responsible for the day-to-day administration of program and financial operations; planning, development, implementation, evaluation and improvement of program services; management of staff; and the delivery of high-quality services and care. The Assistant Executive Director performs all responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with the community’s operating and service philosophy. Responsible for attaining budgeted NOI and assuring compliance to all regulatory and similar requirements.
Essential Duties:
- Demonstrates work habits that support the organization's mission to create and maintain distinctive, service-enriched housing environments for America's senior population. Supports the community's programs to encourage resident independence, well-being, and opportunity for personal growth.
- Assures the provision of high-quality services needed and/or desired by residents.
- Demonstrates an appreciation of the heritage, values, and wisdom of the resident and an understanding of the aging process.
- Attains and/or maintains ongoing compliance with appropriate local, state, federal, regulatory, and/or accrediting body standards. Ensures that the program is prepared for inspection by regulatory agencies through regular auditing and updating of program policies and procedures, medical records documentation, environmental standards, etc.
- Responsible for attaining and/or maintaining the targeted occupancy levels and financial performance.
- Monitors all departmental performance and service delivery in order to maximize resident retention and quality assurance.
- Availability to residents and families in order to optimize communication and resident retention.
- Promotes team building through participation and leadership. Promotes staff participation and involvement in day-to-day operations and decision making.
- Ensures a safe and sanitary environment for residents and employees. Investigates incidents, identifies safety hazards, and institutes corrective action in a timely manner.
- Participates in orienting new staff to the community and working with them, supports their services and contributions to the community.
- Helps develop in-service training and ongoing training of staff in order to provide high quality service.
- Strives to attain excellence in customer satisfaction through ongoing solicitation and measurement of resident feedback, implementation of customer suggestions, interactive problem solving with resident and family members.
- Prepares and administers the annual budget. Monitors and maintains cost control in all departments.
- Ensures that all reports are consistent with SRG’s corporate guidelines and prepared timely.
- Initiates and assures maintenance of accurate payroll records.
- Assures proper maintenance of the facility and the grounds.
- Prepares, analyzes, secures and monitors agreements with venders and service contractors.
- Provides ongoing support, direction, supervision, and feedback regarding job performance of all staff, including contracted staff and volunteers.
- Makes an active contribution towards improving community relations, increasing public regard and overall awareness of the senior living community.
- Monitors, on a routine and ongoing basis, key measurable indicators of daily operations.
- Maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality.
- Continues to expand his/her knowledge of senior living and the needs of the elderly by attending educational seminars and involvement with industry related professional organizations as approved and/or directed by the Executive Director and/or Designee.
- Must have experience in the senior housing, health, human services, and/or community services field. (NOTE: State law and/or regulation may require licensing of Executive Directors / Assistant Executive Director (and/or may specify certain requirements that Executive Directors / Assistant Executive Director must meet.)
- Must possess strong organizational and time-management skills. Must be able to conceptualize, organize, and implement a plan for resident program, anticipate problems, predict outcomes, and plan for the future.
- Must have demonstrated ability to hire, direct, and manage personnel.
- Must demonstrate an understanding of how retirement living communities work, from governing bodies to financing.
- Experience in all aspects of property management is desired.
- ·Must possess a high degree of interpersonal skills and be capable of relating to a variety of people and personalities.
- Considerable initiative, judgment, and leadership skills are also required.
- ·Bachelor's Degree (BA or BS) or equivalent; or at least 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
