Driving towards success at SRG Senior living: Pete's story

Everyday hero status:

You're not just driving; you're delivering smiles, building connections, and being a ray of sunshine in their day.

Essential duties:

Drive to designated locations: 

Your office is on the move. You'll navigate the roads with confidence, ensuring our residents reach their destinations safely and in style.

Assist passengers: 

You're not just a driver; you're a caring companion. You'll help residents get in and out of the vehicle with grace and ease. Your helping hand will be a source of comfort and trust.

Secure equipment: 

We're all about safety. You'll make sure that wheelchairs, walkers, and other equipment are snug and secure. It's all about ensuring a smooth and stable ride for our residents.

Vehicle TLC: 

Your vehicle is your trusty sidekick, so you'll take good care of it. Cleaning, refueling, and keeping it in tip-top shape are part of your routine. After all, a well-maintained vehicle ensures our residents travel in comfort and style.

Why makes the Driver role so special?

We had a quickfire Q&A with one of our newest team members, Pete Melvin, a Driver at our Tucson community Amber Lights. 

Having started working with SRG in March 2023 we wanted to find out how Pete is doing, and with previous experience working with the senior population, who better than Pete to explain what separates SRG from the rest?

Tell us a bit about yourself!

I was born in Elmira, New York but as an Army Veteran I’ve been stationed all over Europe.

What about the Driver job at SRG caught your eye? 

The position suits me perfectly! I love working with seniors.

How has SRG supported your career development? 

This job has allowed me to work at maximum efficiency (I like being busy). I am also able to problem solve independently.

What's been your most epic moment at the company so far?

Listening to all the residents' stories and the day-to-day interactions with them.

What makes SRG different from any other company? 

At SRG, you feel heard. SRG listens. You can also really feel the teamwork here, especially from the way we communicate with one another.

What’s your favorite music?

Rock & Roll—anything from the 70s to the 80s. My favorite artist is Fleetwood Mac & Heart!

Your advice for new drivers?

Be on time, be patient and attentive, and you’ll be on your way to success.
